New Mexico Travel Guide
The truth is, most people who visit Mexico enjoy their stay and encounter little to any issues. The number one contributing factor for encountering trouble in Mexico is where in Mexico one might be traveling. The northern border areas are the “hot spots” for crime as of writing. That said, all of Mexico should be treated the same as any international travel. Crime is prevalent and is an issue.
What is Going on Mexico?
According to the State Department, drug cartels are battling each other for control of the drug trade while simultaneously fighting government attempts to stop their activities. The result is an increased rate of violent crimes in parts of northern Mexico. While foreign tourists are not typically targeted specifically, they could find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time.
To further the confusion, the Mexican media has been targeted by the cartel to prevent news and updates of their on goings being released. However, Mexico is a very large country (about 15 times more land area than the UK) and there remain plenty of places to provide safe travels and vacationing.
